Solutions for Impact Investors NY Launch

The March 4, 2010 panel discussion hosted by The Rockefeller Foundation and the Global Impact Investors Network (GIIN) to celebrate the release of two publications: RPA’s Solutions for Impact Investors: From Strategy to Implementation, and Investing for Impact: Case Studies Across Asset Classes, a report by Bridges Ventures and the Parthenon Group.

An Introduction to Merlin: Medical Emergency Relief International

February 12, 2010: Lucy Dorick, director of Merlin USA, and Pete Sweetnam, head of Merlin’s emergency response department, introduce the organization and their presence in Haiti.

Merlin is a global health specialist that delivers emergency medical aid during crises, then stays on to rebuild. In Haiti, they are deploying emergency medical teams, running operating theaters and clinics, and have sent 33 tons of relief supplies and enough medicines to treat 70,000 people for the next three months. They are now expanding disease control and strengthening local health structures and training local health workers to rebuild Haiti’s health system over the long term.

The New New Economy: Investing with a Climate Change Lens During Challenging Times

The New New Economy symposium held in New York City on November 20, 2008, examined the principles of MRI and its implications for climate change. Al Gore, Van Jones (now part of the environmental team at the White House), and other speakers discussed how despite recent financial losses, there is still some $520 billion in the endowments of private foundations in the U.S. that can act as a catalyst for social change through market-driven investments that promote a foundation’s mission and program objectives.
